What's changing?
On October 1, we're retiring our subscription plans and moving to simple pay-per-session billing for therapy: one flat rate, no ongoing commitment, and you only pay for the sessions you schedule.
- Therapy is $150 per session, charged when you book.
- If you were on a Medication + Therapy plan, your medication management moves to our Affordable Meds plan: one predictable price of $180 every 3 months ($60/month). If you choose to use CerebralRx, the cost and shipping of your medication are included. If you're using a local pharmacy, nothing changes — we'll continue to send your prescriptions there, you'll pay the pharmacy's price or your insurance copay for the medication, and receive a $15 rebate per subscription period.
Is my care changing?
No. Your therapist, your prescriber, your appointments, and your treatment plan all stay exactly as they are. This change affects billing only.
Why is Cerebral making this change?
We're moving to a pay-per-session model for our services. You pay for each session when you book it, with no ongoing commitment — your billing simply follows your schedule. If you take a break from therapy, you pay nothing for therapy until you're back.
Will I pay more than I do now?
It depends on how often you have sessions. If you have fewer than 3 sessions in a typical month, you'll likely pay less than under your subscription. For clients whose care plans include more frequent sessions, the monthly cost may be higher than before. We want to be straightforward about that rather than bury it.
A few things that may help:
-
Talk with your therapist. Session frequency is a clinical decision, and your therapist can help you think through what cadence supports your care — weekly, biweekly, or even monthly. Your therapist may also be able to offer you sessions at the following rates:
- 45-minute session: $125 per session
- 30-minute session: $100 per session
- Check insurance here. If you're on a new insurance plan, we may be in-network. If we're out of network with your insurance, we can provide a superbill—an itemized receipt you can submit to your insurance for possible reimbursement if your plan has out-of-network benefits.
My care plan includes weekly sessions. This is a significant increase for me. What are my options?
- Talk with your therapist. Session frequency is part of your care plan, and your therapist can help you think through what supports your care. Please raise it with them rather than reducing or stopping sessions on your own.
- Ask us for a superbill. [Confirm process] We can provide a detailed receipt you can submit to your insurance for possible reimbursement if your plan has out-of-network benefits.
What happens to my current subscription?
It ends October 1 and will not renew again. You'll receive a prorated refund for any unused portion of your current term — automatically. There's nothing you need to do to get it.
How is my refund calculated?
It's a simple day-count proration: the days remaining in your term after October 1, divided by the total days in your term, multiplied by what you paid for that term. If you'd like to see your specific numbers, reach out through the support form below.
When will I see my refund, and where?
Refunds are issued to your original payment method. All prorated refunds will be processed on October 1. After your refund is processed, it may take up to 10 days to appear on your account, depending on your bank.
Do I need to do anything?
No. The transition is automatic — your account, provider, appointments, and treatment plan all stay the same. Only the billing changes.
How does the $150 session rate work with scheduling and cancellations?
You're charged $150 per session when you book. If you cancel more than 24 hours before your session, you won't be charged. For late cancellations and no-shows, a $50 fee applies. A late cancellation means giving notice less than 24 hours before your scheduled session time. Arriving 15 or more minutes after your scheduled start time is treated as a no-show.
What if I'd prefer not to continue with Cerebral?
You can cancel your care at any time. The easiest way is directly in the portal: Cancel. If you have any trouble, reach out to our Support team using the support form or callback number below. There's no lock-in under the new model — you're never billed for sessions you don't book.
Who can I talk to about my specific situation?
The fastest way to reach us is our support form: Contact us here — our team will follow up with you. If you need to speak with someone, you can call 415-403-2156 to request a callback. If your question is about your treatment plan or session frequency, your therapist is the best person to talk to.
